-
Where can I buy Analogis products?
+
–
Consumers interested in purchasing our products should please contact our distribution partners.
-
Why are there so many different types of turntable mats?
+
–
Turntable mats reduce vibrations and resonances that occur between the turntable and the record. Additionally, the sound can be influenced by the various damping properties.
-
How often should I replace my turntable needle?
+
–
The lifespan of turntable needles varies depending on quality and tracking force. Diamond needles typically last between 200 to 1,000 hours, while sapphire needles last 50 to 100 hours of playtime. Replace the needle if you notice visible damage or if the sound quality deteriorates.
-
Can I connect a turntable to my modern amplifier?
+
–
Yes, you will need a phono preamplifier for this.
If the turntable or amplifier (marked “PHONO” on the audio input) already has a built-in phono preamplifier, you can connect the devices directly.
If neither has one, you can integrate an external phono preamplifier, like our “easy Phono,” between the turntable and amplifier.
-
What is the difference between MM and MC cartridges?
+
–
Both use electromagnetic induction to convert the vibrations of the record into electrical audio signals.
MM stands for “Moving Magnet” and is the most commonly used type of cartridge. Small magnets are placed on the cantilever, which move within fixed coils during playback.
MC stands for “Moving Coil” and is preferred by audiophiles for its higher precision. Tiny coils are placed on the cantilever, and a specialized MC preamp is required.
-
What are weights / pressure clamps used for?
+
–
Weights and pressure clamps improve the contact between the record and the turntable. This helps reduce unwanted resonances.
-
Can I use my turntable to digitize music?
+
–
Yes, you will need a preamplifier with a USB output or an analog-to-digital converter. Software like Audacity is required to process the recordings.
-
How can I protect my vinyl records from damage?
+
–
Vinyl records should always be stored upright and kept safe from external factors like dust, moisture, heat, and direct sunlight.
Our “Protect It” protective sleeves and vinyl cleaning and care products are ideal for preserving your valuable records for a long time.
-
What is anti-skating?
+
–
The groove in the record creates a force that pushes the tonearm inward. Anti-skating counteracts this force, improving tracking and sound quality.
-
Why is my turntable so quiet?
+
–
Turntables without an integrated phono preamp output a phono signal, which has a significantly lower level (“volume”) than the more common line signal today.
To boost the phono signal to line level, you can integrate a phono preamp, such as our “easy Phono” preamplifier, between the turntable and amplifier.
